GOODLETTSVILLE CUMBERLAND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
MISSIONAL VALUES LOVE (MATTHEW 22:37-40) “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
Sunday is the ministry launching point for the GCPC community. Every week the goal is to fall more in love with Jesus and each other through preaching, teaching, and small group discipleship (Sunday school classes, small groups, etc.). As we progress together in this process of maturity we are developing the ability to love our neighbor as Christ taught us too. The goal is to develop habits in our relationship with God that deepen our understanding and relationship with Him so that we have the ability to be obedient to the Great Commandment.
H – Hanging out with God (Prayer/Devotions) A – Accountability with Each other B- Bible Memorization I – Individual Study T-Tithing S – Serving (Inside and Outside) GO (Matthew 28:19-20) 19Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” GCPC is a launching point for evangelism into the community. As individuals we all have the responsibility to share the gospel in our sphere of influence. We do this by sharing our story with others, living the biblically driven life in front of people, and sharing the truth of the Gospel from the scriptures with those who are seeking God. In this Great Commission we are driven by a singular question: Who are we taking with us? We also have a responsibility to disciple those who believe after they are reached with the gospel. This is done through small group discipleship and one-on-one mentoring. SERVE (Ephesians 4:11-13) 11He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, 13until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ. GCPC is the human resource center for service opportunities inside and outside the church. As individuals we all have the responsibility to serve in an area of passion, driven by our spiritual gifts. We do this by finding the area of ministry that God has called us to serve, inside and outside the church. In the Great Commitment we are driven by a singular question: How has God gifted me to contribute to the body and the world? The goal is to use our gifts to further the Kingdom of God by serving God with the gifts he has given us. |
